Connector type M

The 15-A variant is referred to as type M denotes the 5 and 2-A variant as type D .
The connector type M is an electrical connector that is mainly used in South Africa. It is the only connector type in Lesotho and Swaziland .
In Great Britain the plug has been replaced by type G plug . Type M is referred to as 15-A 3-pin in the old British standard BS 546 . The connector type D also comes from this standard. There was also a 10-A variant of the type M, but this was replaced by the 15-A variant. The connector type M is standardized in India under the designation IA16A3.
The distance between the pins is not 3 ⁄ 4 "(19 mm), but 1" (25.4 mm). The earth is offset by 1 1 ⁄ 8 ″ (28.6 mm). An adapter is therefore essential for Euro plugs or other plugs.
