Stefan Hähnlein

Stefan Hähnlein (born June 12, 1990 in Berlin ) is a German sitting volleyball player .

Career

Since Hähnlein is dependent on a wheelchair due to an inverted plastic , but still wanted to do sports, he joined the Berlin SSC in 2004 to play sitting volleyball. He later moved to TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen . At the 2011 European Championships, he took third place with the national team in performance group D. He repeated this placement at the 2013 European Championships until he and the team won the silver medal in sitting volleyball in 2015 and thus became vice European champions. The highlight of his career was winning the bronze medal at the 2012 Paralympic Games in London . He also took part in the 2016 Paralympics and came in sixth. With his club Bayer 04 Leverkusen, Hähnlein was seven times German champion in sitting volleyball.

For winning the bronze medal at the Paralympic Games in 2012, he and the team received the Silver Laurel Leaf in October 2012 .
