Stefan Hoerdler

Stefan Hördler (* 1977 ) is a German historian .

Life

Stefan Hördler studied modern and contemporary history as well as philosophy at the Humboldt University in Berlin from 1998 to 2006 . He was then a doctoral candidate at the Institute for History there and obtained his doctorate in 2012 on the subject of “Order and Inferno. The concentration camp system in the last year of the war ”; for the work he received the Joachim-Tiburtius-Preis of the Berlin universities. During this time, Hördler worked as an employee at the chair for contemporary history at Humboldt University. From 2012 to 2015 he worked as a research assistant at the German Historical Institute in Washington .

In 2015, Stefan Hördler was appointed head of the Mittelbau-Dora concentration camp memorial in Nordhausen. In June 2019 it became known that the Board of Trustees of the Buchenwald and Mittelbau memorials had separated from Hördler with immediate effect. His dismissal was declared unlawful by the labor court and Hördler was compensated with a severance payment.
