Stefan Knabl (born November 8, 1983 in Villach ) is a former Austrian Nordic combined athlete .

Career

Knabl started skiing at SV Villach when he was six . At the age of 15 he was accepted into the ÖSV youth squad. In the youth field, he was able to win the national Austria Cup and achieved second place at the Austrian championships.

At the beginning of the 2001/02 season, his career was stopped by a serious vertebral injury, whereupon he had to end his career prematurely. After his recovery, he made his comeback in spring 2002. Due to his performance in the following competitions, he was called back to the ÖSV team and nominated for international competitions.

He made his international debut on March 7, 2003 in the Nordic Combined B World Cup in Kuusamo. He won his first B World Cup points on March 15, 2003 in Stryn with a 12th place. Just one day later, he finished second in the team competition. He finished the 2002/03 season in 89th place in the world rankings and was again included in the senior national squad.

He made his debut in the Summer Grand Prix on August 22, 2003 in his hometown of Villach, where he finished 37th. In the following 2003/04 season he could no longer build on his performance and ended his active career in the summer of 2004.
