Stefan Mecking

Stefan Mecking (born October 1966 ) is a German chemist and professor of chemical materials science at the University of Konstanz .

life and work

Mecking studied chemistry at RWTH Aachen University , where he received his doctorate in October 1994 in Wilhelm Keim's group . This was followed by a post-doctoral stay at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Maurice Brookhart's group . After working at Hoechst AG in Frankfurt, he completed his habilitation at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg . In March 2004 he accepted a position at the University of Konstanz. His research focuses on polymerisation in disperse systems, polymer colloids and nanostructures, catalyst design and mechanistic studies as well as hybrids of organic and inorganic nanophases.

Mecking has received numerous awards, including the Eugen Graetz Prize (2000), the DECHEMA Young University Teachers Prize , the Otto Roelen Medal and the Karl Ziegler Giulio Natta Lecture by the GDCh .
