Stefan Rosu

Stefan Rosu (* 1960 in Osnabrück ) is an international cultural manager with a focus on classical music.

Life

From 1995 to 1998, Rosu was artistic director of the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival . He studied law at the University of Regensburg and switched to studying music, cultural management and musicology in Vienna and Münster. During this time he was manager at Radio Filharmonisch Orkest Holland in Hilversum from 1998 to 2005 . He received his doctorate in 2004 with distinction. His dissertation, The Friends of the Radio Orchestra in the Netherlands, contains the only presentation of the history of the Dutch radio orchestra in German to date and has been published by the Vienna Institute for Dutch Studies. Afterwards he was Managing Director of the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg. Between 2010 and 2013 Rosu accompanied the merger of the Orchester Philharmonique du Luxembourg with the Philharmonie Luxembourg in various functions.

On October 1st, 2013, Stefan Rosu was appointed artistic director of the Philharmonie Zuidnederland. In autumn 2013 he will also take on a teaching position for orchestra management at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Frankfurt am Main.

In November 2014 his book 'Future strategies for orchestras - mobilize skills and strengths' was published.

The Maastricht Center for the Innovation of Classical Music (MCICM) initiated by Rosu started operations on September 1, 2018. The MCICM, located at Maastricht University, is an amalgamation of scientific research and an orchestra.
