Stefan Scheu

Stefan Scheu (born April 25, 1959 in Stuttgart ) is a German biologist specializing in soil ecology . Until the summer semester 2008 he was a professor at the Biological Faculty of the TU Darmstadt . In the following winter semester 2008/2009, he accepted the call from the Georg-August University in Göttingen and held the chair for animal ecology at the Johann Friedrich Blumenbach Institute for Zoology and Anthropology.

Life

After completing his degree in biology at the Georg-August University in Göttingen, he did his doctorate there at the chair of ecology under Matthias Schaefer in the field of soil ecology. During this time he married and has two children from this marriage. His professional interest is generally soil ecological questions, whereby he deals in particular with the structure and function of soil animal communities as well as evolutionary questions such as the evolution of sexuality. In 1998 he was offered a position at the TU Darmstadt in the department of biology. In the winter semester 2008/2009 he accepted a call back to the Georg-August University in Göttingen. There he took over the chair of his former doctoral supervisor.
