Steffen Künster

Steffen Künster (born September 12, 1963 in Mannheim ) is a German entrepreneur and was President of SV Waldhof Mannheim from 2010 to 2016 . He is the owner and managing director of aspedia GmbH.

Professional background

After training as a master copy maker and studying in the USA, he founded Typo-Design Künster GmbH in 1987, later Quadro Digital Publishing GmbH. After selling the company to a large printing company in 1996, Künster turned to the topics of database development with regard to information management and the topic of eCommerce . During this time, Künster developed a high-performance search technology that was used in Internet-based business directories, but was also used to manage image databases in the printing industry. In 2001 Telegate AG bought the search technology and together with Künster founded 11880.com GmbH, an Internet-based information portal, of which he became the managing director. In August 2003, Künster founded Goldschmitt & Künster Daten- und Informationsmanagement GbR. Aspedia GmbH emerged from this company foundation in March 2004.

Sports official

In 2010 Steffen Künster applied for the office of President of SV Waldhof Mannheim. In the election during the general meeting on December 16, 2010, he was able to prevail with 230 of the 321 votes cast. After disputes between the management bodies as part of the planned spin-off of the professional football department into a Spielbetriebs GmbH, Steffen Künster left the office on April 26, 2016 and was replaced (initially on an interim basis) by Klaus-Rüdiger Geschwill.

Steffen Künster is married and has two sons.
