Standing deer

The Standing deer , even as Hart called, is a sculpture in the district Alexisbad the city Harzgerode in resin in Saxony-Anhalt .

It is located in the center of Alexisbad in front of the entrance to the Vitalhotel on Kreisstraße .

Design and history

The sculpture depicting a deer was made by Johann Heinrich Kureck in the Mägdesprung ironworks before 1860 as a zinc casting . The sculpture has a height of 185 centimeters up to the antler rose . It stands on an iron base measuring 146 by 45 centimeters. The surface is color treated.

A similar sculpture was in the Dessau Palace Gardens . A similarly designed sculpture, but with stronger antlers, the academy stag , stands on the Hüttenplatz of the Mägdesprung ironworks.

The sculpture is registered in the official register of monuments under Silberhütte with the registration number 094 50136 and is mentioned in the Handbook of German Art Monuments .
