Increase run
An increase in running or shortly increase means a short running session in which the movement speed is increased gradually. Usually 80 to 120 meters are run and increased from a slow trot to a sprint .
The aim of the increase is to achieve a more economical running style. Mainly the high knee stroke and the strong impression from the ankle joint that occur when sprinting should also be taken over into the memory of movement for slower speeds . The continuously changing sequence of movements also trains muscle coordination and thus the efficiency of muscle movement.
Increases are a training unit that is often used in all running-intensive sports, as their length and the final pace allow them to be adapted very flexibly to the respective fitness level of the athletes or the training requirements. As a rule, two to five increases with walking breaks in between are run. Increases due to the short load and the freely selectable intensity are also well suited for training beginners.
