history

The Steinbach fighting geese were bred in Thuringia near Steinbach-Hallenberg and Brotterode at the end of the 19th century , but were not recognized until 1932. This breed was originally used for ganter fights. Hump geese and land geese and / or Russian fighting geese were used as starting animals (controversial).
