The Steiner Energie AG is a Swiss power company , which for the supply in the municipality of since 1903 Malters is responsible.

The company has a 182-kilometer network of lines and 78  transformer stations . In total, Steiner Energie AG delivers around 43  GWh of electricity to around 3,900 customers annually . In addition, the company is also active in the areas of electrical installations, telecommunications, IT and EDP installations as well as security technology.

history

The company has its roots in the mill operated from 1882 by the Steiner family of millers who moved to Malters . The power requirement was initially met with a water wheel and towards the end of the 19th century with a turbine. In addition to operating the mill from 1895, the energy gained was also used to produce electrical light for the Malters community. In 1903 the then Steiners Sons & Cie. AG company for the first time the concession for the delivery of electricity in the municipality.

In 1983, the energy division was separated from the milling operations and incorporated into Steiner Energie AG, which had recently been founded as an independent subsidiary. In 1996, the owner family sold Steiner Energie AG to Centralschweizerische Kraftwerke (CKW), to whose overland network the company had been connected since 1923.
