Steinfeder
Steinfeder is the name of the light, fragrant wines from the Wachau wine-growing region . The name comes from the stone spring ( Gray Schei Diges feather grass - Stipa pennata ) - a featherlight grass that grows on the steep vineyards and the family of the spring grasses belongs.
The quality label may only be used by member companies of the Vinea Wachau Nobilis Districtus protection association. Almost all businesses in the Wachau wine-growing region are members of Vinea Wachau .
Quality requirements
The grapes must have a must weight of at least 15 - 17 ° KMW . The musts are always classic dry fermented. The maximum alcohol content of these wines is 11.5% by volume. The Wachau is a wine-growing region in which it is possible, due to the natural climate and soil conditions, to press wines with such a low alcohol content.
