Steinhagentor

The Steinhagentor was a city gate of the city fortifications of Hattingen . It was about by the staircase on the corner of Martin-Luther-Strasse and Schulstrasse.

Until the 1970s, there was a traffic island with a clock on the intersection in front of the gate for the Persil detergent .

In April 1999 the Foundation for Art, Culture and Monument Preservation of the Sparkasse Hattingen announced an international competition for the artistic design of the gate. The steel design by the Ettlingen artist Voré from Ettlingen was selected . It was realized in 2003 with financial support from Hattinger Wohnstätten eG .
