The Illane stone circle is located in the eponymous townland ( Irish An tOileán , "the island"), north of Kealkill in County Cork in Ireland . It is a well-preserved five-stone-circle ( English Five Stone Circle ).

The 55 five-stone circles of Ireland consist of a ring or a D-shaped arrangement of rarely more than medium-sized, individually standing stones, the number of which is five (e.g. Carrigagulla , Cullomane, Derreenataggart , Glanbrack, Kealkill , Knocknakilla , Knocknaneirk Nord , Lettergorman SW or Uragh ). Their diameter varies between 2.3 and 5.0 meters.

To the east is a cairn made of fairly large stones, the outer ones giving the impression that there might have been a second circle here. Next to the cairn is a menhir ( English standing stone ) about one meter high .

Nearby is the Kealkill Stone Circle .
