Yockenthwaite Stone Circle

The Bronze Age stone circle of Yockenthwaite is located in Yockenthwaite , northwest of Kettlewell , in west North Yorkshire in England .

The small, slightly oval stone ring of 7.0 by 6.5 m in diameter is probably a stone circle , although it could also be the remnant of the border of a ring cairn . It lies on the north bank of the upper reaches of the Wharfe , a river in the Yorkshire Dales that was important to prehistoric residents. The Dales Way, a long distance hiking trail through the Wharfe Valley, passes the stone circle.

The circle consists of 24 stones with the remains of an outer segment of the circle in the northwest and gaps in the north and southeast where stones are missing. The massive circle stones are usually no more than half a meter high. An outlier is about 6 meters to the southeast, further stones are further to the west.
