The stone cross from Sterschsee (Russian Стерженский крест ) is a stone cross from the 12th century in Russia . It was built in 1133 when a canal was built between the Sterschsee and the Volga . The cross is made of sandstone , 1.67 meters high and weighs around 933 kilograms.

It bears the inscription

In the year 6641 in the month of July on the 14th day, I, Iwanko Pavloviz, began to dig a river and erected this cross.

The builder could be identical to Ivanko Pavlovich , who was governor of Novgorod in 1134 and 1135 .

It is now in the Tver Museum .
