Stone row by Rossnakilla
The stone row of Rossnakilla and the menhir of Rossnakilla stand in the townland of Rossnakilla ( Irish Ros na Coille ) south of Macroom in County Cork in Ireland .
Row of stones
The row of stones is in near perfect condition and stands on the level crest of a hill overlooking a valley of the River Lee. The approximately 7.4 m long row consists of three stones.
- The northeast stone is 2.05 m high, 1.1 m wide and 0.35 m thick.
- The middle stone, 1.85 m away, is 1.65 m high, 1.1 m wide and 0.85 m thick.
- The southwest stone, 2.85 m away, is the highest. It is 2.1 m high, 1.5 m wide and 0.65 m thick. At its base is a small quartz stone with incisions that could be petroglyphs .
Menhir
The menhir ( English standing stone ) is located about 40 m northeast of the row of stones. It is 1.7 meters high, 1.5 meters wide and 30 centimeters thick and leans slightly to the west.
