The Steintor Verlag is a German publisher of bibliophile graphic editions and portfolios of contemporary artists in Möhnesee .

Publishing house in Burgdorf

The publishing house was founded in 1969 by Rudolf Jüdes in Burgdorf (Hanover region) . Jüdes was previously a cultural journalist and from 1966 to 1968 the first full-time director of the Hannover Art Association . From 1976 on, and especially in the 1980s and 1990s, Jüdes showed numerous graphic exhibitions in his Steintor Verlag gallery in Meiborssen an der Weser. In addition to the publication of bibliophile productions and artistic editions, the focus of the publisher's activities was on promoting communication with and about art through symposia and exhibitions. The Steintor-Verlag in Burgdorf was officially deleted by the registry court in 2014.

Publishing house in Möhnesee

In 1995 the company moved to the Möhnesee . Today, under the roof of the Möhnesee Kunsthaus , there is the Steintor-Verlag (with the same logo that Rudolf Jüdes used) and the internationally active artist printing company Kätelhön Druckgrafik , a traditional craft workshop for original artistic printing . The focus of this printing company, founded in 1928, is on etching , woodcut and lithography . She offers artists the opportunity to work on the printing plates in the workshop. A master printer prints the first sample print. After approval by the artist (bon-à-tirer), the edition is printed.

As has been the case since 1969, the publisher generally issues small editions and makes them known by participating in art fairs. These editions are also bought by public collections.
