The Stellwerk - Junge Theater Weimar ( spelling : Stellwerk - Junges Theater Weimar ) is a free theater by and for young people in Thuringia .

The main focus of the Stellwerk's work since 1999 has been on cultural education in a contemporary, theater-pedagogical context. Under professional guidance, children, young people and students will find scenic, dance and performative offers that enable them to have aesthetic, social and life-world-oriented learning experiences. The purpose of the theater is to bring young people onto the stage and thereby give them low-threshold access to participation and active participation. The young theater wants to empower young people to actively incorporate their attitudes, questions, expertise and wishes into the program content. The offers are age-specific and structured in a course, workshop and staging system. The game plan is made up of the productions created in this workshop system. At the municipal level, the signal box cooperates u. a. with the Deutsches Nationaltheater Weimar , the Kunstfest Weimar and the Klassikstiftung Weimar , local educational institutions such as the Bauhaus University Weimar , the University of Music Franz-Liszt Weimar and school educational institutions as well as with social institutions such as the city's children's office, the Kindervereinigung Weimar e. V. and the foundation EJBW-European youth and meeting place Weimar. Throughout Thuringia, the young theater is a member of the Thuringian Theater Association e. V., in the LAG Game and Theater in Thuringia e. V. and the LAG Soziokultur Thüringen e. V. At the federal level, the Stellwerk is represented in the Association of Theater Education and the Federal Association of Independent Performing Arts, the Federal Association of German Amateur Theaters and the Federal Working Group on Theater and Play. The theater management and their employees are represented in regional and national specialist committees.

Awards

The productions of the house were for regional and nationwide festivals such as the "Treff - junges Theater" and the "Avant Art", the federal meeting "Youth clubs at theaters", the "Just a moment!" Festival of the theater for young audiences and the "Amarena" Festival for the German Amateur Prize u. selected. The association makes guest appearances in other federal states, maintains an exchange with other youth theaters and participates in the tenders and competitions of the federal associations.

In 2018 the Stellwerk received the “Democracy Theater Prize of the Institute B3 in Leipzig” for the production “Wilhelm Tell - Attempts”. In addition, the house was nominated four times for the Thuringian Theater Prize and was awarded the German Amateur Theater Prize in the drama category in 2014. In 2018 the signal box received the "Award of the Federal Meeting of Youth Clubs at Theaters". In 2012, the work of the young theater was honored with the Children's Rights Prize.
