The Kazakh National Medical Asfendijarow University ( Kazakh С.Ж. Асфендияров атындағы Қазақ ұлттық медицина университеті , Russian Казахский Национальный Медицинский Университет имени С.Д. Асфендиярова ) is a medical university in Kazakhstan's Almaty .
history
The decision to found a medical institute in Alma-Ata was taken by the Council of People's Commissars of the RSFSR on July 10, 1930. For example, in the academic year 1930/31 such an institution was to start teaching in the city. For the first rector of the Kazakh State Medical Institute was Sanschar Asfendijarow ordered. An acute shortage of pediatricians in the area led to the opening of a pediatric faculty in 1938 . Due to the settlement of industrial and defense companies in Kazakhstan during the war years, a large number of people evacuated to Kazakhstan and the risk of epidemics , the third faculty was opened at the institute in 1943.
In the post-war years the number of students rose sharply; at the same time, the institute was expanded to include additional departments. In 1951 the Faculty of Pharmacy and 1959 the Faculty of Dentistry were added. In 1981 the institute was awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor for its achievements in the training of medical personnel and its great contribution to science . On January 11, 1989, the Council of Ministers of the Kazakh SSR decided to rename the institute after its first rector in Asfendiyarov State Medical Institute .
On August 7, 1996, the institution was elevated to the status of a university and from then on it was called the Kazakh State Medical Asfendiyarov University . On July 5, 2001, the college was granted the status of a National University and was renamed the Azfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University .
