Stepan Mikhailovich Baklanov

Stepan Michailowitsch Baklanow ( Russian Степан Михайлович Бакланов ; * 1920 ) is a Soviet engineer , was a prisoner in Buchenwald concentration camp , head of the military section of Soviet prisoners of war and member of the General Council of the International Buchenwald-Dora and Commands Committee .

Life

Baklanov trained as an engineer after school . After the beginning of the Second World War he fought in the Red Army against the Wehrmacht of the German Empire . He joined the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU). After his capture in 1942 he was transferred to the Buchenwald concentration camp ( prisoner number : 7029). Here he participated in the prisoner resistance and headed the illegal Soviet military department.

When the Nazi rule was eliminated, he returned to his homeland and worked as an engineer in Bratsk . As a member of the International Buchenwald-Dora and Commands Committee, he participated in the remembrance work of the anti-fascist resistance fighters .
