The picture shows a finely worked marble stone with a scaly, winged dragon snake holding a heraldic shield. It probably comes from the tombstone of Stephan Báthory.

Stephan Báthory von Ecsed (Hungarian: Báthori István ) (* 1430 ; † 1493 ) was voivode of Transylvania and also a judge of the country and a member of the Dragon Order .

In 1479 Báthory was victorious in the battle of the bread field against the Turks . From the money he had seized, he began to expand the Franciscan church in his hometown Nyírbátor and from 1484 to build the St. George's Church, which was specially intended for the family crypt . The latter was completed in 1511.
