Stephan Braese

Stephan Braese (* 1961 in Quakenbrück ) is a German literary scholar . Since 2009 he has been professor for European-Jewish literary and cultural history at RWTH Aachen University .

Life

After studying history, literature and education, he received his doctorate in 1994 at the University of Hamburg with a dissertation on the problem of anti-fascist satire . After research stays in Tel Aviv, New York and Jerusalem, he completed his habilitation in 2000 at the University of Hamburg with the text The Other Memory - Jewish Authors in West German Post-War Literature.

After professorships and visiting professorships etc. a. In 2009 in Bremen, Lüneburg, Paris and Berlin, he was appointed to the chair for European-Jewish literary and cultural history at the Institute for German and General Literary Studies at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule Aachen.
