Stephan Elsner

Stephan Elsner (* 1955 in West Berlin ), artist name Elsner , is a German artist .

Life

Elsner grew up in West Berlin and studied from 1975 at the Hochschule der Künste (HdK). In 1980 he finished his studies in 1980 as a master student with Herbert Kaufmann . In the same year he also began working on the subject of border violations . In one of these actions, he partially collapsed the Berlin Wall in 1982 . He was arrested by a British military patrol and handed over to the West Berlin police, who released him. When the Wall fell in November 1989, Elsner ended his artistic work. In 2009 he started working as an artist again.
