Stephan Fischer

Stephan Fischer (born May 31, 1921 in Thüringerberg ; † January 17, 1986 in Rankweil ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and farmer. From 1959 to 1964 he was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament .

education and profession

After finishing elementary school in Thüringerberg, Fischer attended the rural advanced training school Thüringerberg and then graduated from the agricultural college in Mehrerau from 1937 to 1938 . He then worked on his parents' farm from 1938 to 1841 and then served in the Second World War from February 1941 . After his return from American captivity in August 1945, he worked again in the family business and was also the community treasurer from 1946 to 1950. In 1948 he finally set up his own farm and a wage saw.

Politics and functions

Stephan Fischer joined the Farmers' Union and the Austrian People's Party after the Second World War and was mayor of the Thuringian community from 1950 to 1955. Within the party he was a member of the state party leadership of the ÖVP Vorarlberg from 1959 to 1964 and during this time also a member of the state party council of the ÖVP Vorarlberg. He was also involved as a board member of the Innerland District Farmers Association, was deputy chairman of the Innerland District Farmers Association and a member of the Federal Action Committee of the Austrian Farmers Association and the Vorarlberg State Farmers Council.

As a member of the Bludenz constituency, Fischer represented the ÖVP in the state parliament between October 29, 1959 and October 28, 1964. He was a member of the Agriculture Committee and a member of the Education Committee.

Fischer was the local group chairman of the Catholic family association and chairman of the building commission for church renovation. He was also active as a member of the supervisory committee of the Vorarlberger Bauernkrankenkasse.

Private

Fischer was the son of the farmer and community leader Josef Fischer and his wife Aloisia Fischer. He was married from 1948 and has seven children.
