Stephan Heise
Stephan Heise (* 1883 ; † 1945 ) was editor of the Frankfurter Volksstimme , a social democratic newspaper , until 1933 . First arrest after the National Socialists came to power. As a member of the Paul Apel resistance , he was arrested again in 1936 and imprisoned in several concentration camps. He was killed on a death march from Sachsenhausen concentration camp shortly before the end of the war.
Stephan-Heise-Straße in the Frankfurt settlement of Westhausen is named after him. Between 1933 and 1947 this was named after Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck , a Prussian general.
