Stephan Vermeersch

Stephan Vermeersch is a Belgian clarinetist, saxophonist and music teacher .

Vermeersch studied clarinet, bass clarinet, saxophone and chamber music at the Lemmensinstituut in Löwen and at the Ghent Conservatory. His teachers were Greet Severens (clarinet) and Ed Bogaard (saxophone). He became known as an executive musician, improviser and composer of classical, contemporary, electroacoustic and world music and often works on multimedia projects with artists from the fields of visual arts, dance, film, literature and theater.

As a clarinetist and saxophonist, he took part in concerts and festivals in more than 30 countries in Europe, the USA, Canada, Armenia, Pakistan, India, Japan, China and Mongolia. He is President of the European Clarinet Association and a board member of the International Clarinet Association . As a music teacher he teaches clarinet, saxophone and chamber music at the Knocke-Heist Academy of Art in Belgium and the Netherlands.
