Stephan Wunderlich

Stephan Wunderlich (* 1952 in Nuremberg ) is a German composer who works primarily in the field of experimental music.

life and work

Stephan Wunderlich studied piano (graduation in 1971), composition (graduation in 1976), conducting, drums, vocal training and singing in Würzburg and Stuttgart from 1964 to 1976 . In 1974 he attended international summer courses in Bayreuth, Weimar and Darmstadt. From 1976 to 1981 he dealt with music and therapy and published the book Structural Music Work: Compositions, Essays, Projects; Fall 1980 – Spring 1982 . Stephan Wunderlich was inspired by the philosopher Heinrich Rombach and the musician John Cage .

He has been working with Edith Rom since 1982 and has been producing radio plays since 1984. In 1987 Wunderlich took part in documenta 8 in Kassel with a daily production . In 1985 he was awarded the Karl Sczuka Prize for daily production .

He is the director of the Ensemble for Experimental Music Munich , the Association for Experimental Music Munich , the Kulturverein Milbertshofen and, since 1983, the Festival for Experimental Music Munich . From 1987 to 1997 Wunderlich was responsible for the program of the Kultur Raum Milbertshofen . He has been the organizer of the summer workshop for experimental music in Munich since 2009 .
