Stephen C. Apostolof

Stephen C. Apostolof ( Bulgarian Стефан Апостолов ; born February 25, 1928 in Burgas , Bulgaria , † August 14, 2005 in Mesa , Arizona) was an American erotic producer and trash film director of Bulgarian origin. Apostolof is also known under the name AC Stephens .

Life

Apostolof received asylum in the USA in the late 1940s . His film career began in 1957 when he produced the anti-communist film Journey To Freedom , which was based on his own life. This film made him known to Hollywood's B-Garde, he came into contact with William C. Thompson , the actor Tor Johnson and finally his later frequent partner in his works, film producer Ed Wood . In the 1960s and 1970s he produced numerous adult films .

Apostolof is best known for the film Orgy of the Dead , which is based on a book by Ed Wood. The film in which Criswell plays the leading role is considered a cult object among trash fans. Apostolof then turned numerous other erotic comedies until the late 1970s.
