Stephen Kanu Famewo (born December 30, 1983 in Effurun , Nigeria ) is a former Nigerian football player who also has Canadian citizenship.

Career

In his youth, Famewo played at Dynamos Lagos in his native Nigeria and then in France at CS Louhans-Cuiseaux , before moving to Eintracht Frankfurt . There he started in the U19s, but moved into the second division of Eintracht in the summer of 2001. In his first year he scored one goal in three games, but was only allowed to play for the second team the next year. He scored three goals in 19 encounters. Since he didn't even have a regular place in the regional league team, he moved to the U23 of VfB Stuttgart . In Stuttgart, the number of his appearances increased every season (10, 16, 26), but he did not make the leap into professional football. Famewo moved within the Regionalliga Süd to competitor SV Wehen . He only played twice for Hessen and as a consequence switched to SV Wilhelmshaven in the Regionalliga Nord during the winter break and thus completed 14 games in the second half of the season, in which he scored four times. In the summer of 2007, Famewo came to Holstein Kiel in the Oberliga Nord . The premature highlight of his time in Kiel was the 57 minutes he played in the first round of the DFB Cup against Hamburger SV. After a year at Kickers Emden , he joined SV Meppen for the 2010/11 season and rose with the club to the Regionalliga Nord. From January 2012 to July 2013 he was active in the Lower Saxony state division JSG Apensen / Harsefeld.
