Image width

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The imaging width belongs to the loudspeaker stereo localization. It indicates the width of the sound body being heard on the loudspeaker base or the width of the stereo base as a percentage of the stereo center (stereo center). This is directly related to the microphone base and the axis angle of the main microphone , i.e. to the recording area it creates .

Technical means are also used to try to influence the image width. For this purpose, the weighting of in-phase and anti-phase (reverse polarity) signal components is changed. Modern stereo processors offer dynamic control of the image width depending on the signal properties.
