Steve Biddulph.

Steve Biddulph (* 1953 in Saltburn-by-the-Sea , Yorkshire , England) is an Australian family psychologist . He lives and works in Tasmania , Australia with his wife and co-author Shaaron Biddulph . He is a male activist .

As a psychologist, he has been dealing with the family topic for over 25 years . His books criticize the madness of our modern times, the increasing isolation due to the disappearance of the community and the difficulties for parents associated with it. But they also represent a change in thinking about children's needs. He complains u. a. a lack of support for boys in school. He acts as a consultant for boy-friendly schools around the world. In his most recent book, he advocates the promotion of relationships between toddlers and parents, which he sees endangered by too early and too long outside group care and the measurable stress for toddlers associated with it.

In each of his books he deals with a subliminal social problem. His experience is based on working with problem families, Vietnam veterans, emergency victims as well as victims of rape, trauma and bullying.

In his home country Australia , he works for social justice and environmental issues. He is also involved in human rights campaigns and helps refugee families and children deal with the Australian authorities. He is a co-initiator of The SievX National Memorial Project , to commemorate and help the victims in the tragedy in which 300 refugee mothers and children died under suspicious circumstances on a ship on the voyage to Australia. He is a director of the Collinsvale Center .

Biddulph takes an active part in the public debate about ways out of the climate crisis . He is a co-signer of an open letter published in December 2018, in which politicians are accused of having failed to address the crisis, called on to join movements like Extinction Rebellion and called on people to stop consuming.

Works

The Making of Love (1980) was a response to divorces , most of which, in Biddulph's view, would have been unnecessary and avoidable.

In Manhood ( Men Seeking ) issues such as father-friendly workplace practices, paternity leave, counseling services and health services for men are addressed. It also emphasizes the recognition of the importance of fathers for a clear and valuable role in children's lives. The book is credited with positively influencing and transforming the rift that exists between thousands of men and their fathers, a unique reconciliation achieved through the written word.
