Life

He started his career in the CBS studios in 1975. He worked there in various roles, including as a sound engineer, for various bands. These include the punk bands The Clash , The Jags and The Vibrators . In addition to these bands, he worked with the pop group Sailor , which was produced by Bruce Johnston . Since Levine was not satisfied as a sound engineer, Johnston promoted and encouraged him to take a career step. Levine eventually began writing and producing songs. When Steve recorded some songs with the band The Angelic Upstarts, he became aware that their manager Tony Gorden had a new band under contract. This finally established the contact between Steve and Gorden's band Culture Club . He recorded a few songs with the band that Virgin Records eventually signed. Steve produced the band's three following albums, which should sell over 20 million records over the next few years. The collaboration ended in 1984.

In the same year his former mentor asked Bruce Johnston to produce the new Beach Boys album, of which Johnston was a member. Since separating from Culture Club, Levine has worked for a wide range of bands and artists, and he also writes and produces film music. He eventually received a Grammy for his work with Deniece Williams . In 2000 Levine produced the Russian contribution to the Eurovision Song Contest. The song, which reached number 2, is now the best-selling Russian single.

In 2005 Levine put together the band “One world project” which recorded the song “Grief never grows old” as part of the tsunami aid. With 100,000 pre-orders, the song reached number 4 in England and is currently Levine's last commercial success.

Today (2007) Levine is a frequent guest speaker for companies such as Yamaha , Korg and Apple Computer .

Today he still works with bands like Charlotte Cooper , Laura Stracey, Zeano and Verbalicious.
