Steven Langnas

Steven E. Langnas (born May 19, 1956 in Philadelphia ) is an American-Swiss rabbi .

Langnas attended high school in Philadelphia and then studied at Yeshiva University in New York and Jerusalem , where he met his Swiss wife. From 1990 to 1998 Langnas worked as a teacher, assistant rabbi and second cantor in the Basel Israelite community . From 1 July 1998 to 2011 he was the successor of Yitzhak Ehrenberg community rabbi of the Jewish community of Munich . Langnas was also a member of the Standing Committee of the European Rabbinical Conference .

Langnas is married and has three children. After working as a community rabbi, he takes care of pastoral care in the Saul-Eisenberg retirement home of the Israelite religious community. He is also a lecturer at the Chair of Religious Education at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 2018 he was awarded the Manfred Görg Prize for his initiative in the Munich Teaching House of Religions .
