Stephen James "Steven" Maher (born November 29, 1962 in Evanston , Illinois ) is a former American luge athlete .
Maher competed for a total of six years in a two-seater, mostly with Joe Barile . He won three national championship titles and participated in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada . There he finished 16th in the two-seater.
Maher attended the University of Illinois . After his athletic career, he worked as a real estate agent and started his own company Maher Partners, LLC .
