Joseph James "Joe" Barile (born May 6, 1959 ) is a former American luge athlete .

Barile took on two-seater toboggan competitions with Steven Maher for six years. In 1988 he took part in the Winter Olympics in Calgary , Canada . There he took 16th place.

After his active career, Barile worked as a carpenter again , especially in the Adirondack Mountains . He is the developer and owner of The Whiteface Lodge , an early 20th century style camp .
