Steven Sumani Nayina

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Steven Sumani Nayina , SS Nayina for short , is a Ghanaian politician ( NDC ).

Career

Nayina stood in the parliamentary elections in Ghana 1996 in the constituency of West Mamprusi , based in Walewale, for the People's Convention Party (PCP) within the opposition Great Alliance . With 24% of all votes cast, however, Nayina lost to his rival Susanna Adam (63%) from the NDC. In the Atta-Mills government , Nayina, now a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), was appointed regional minister for the Northern Region on January 7, 2009 . After about a year in office, on January 25, 2010, he was replaced as regional minister in the first cabinet reshuffle by Moses Magbenba . NDC members were then pleased about the dismissal because Nayina had been too "arrogant, selfish and autocratic" and had caused divisions within the party base during his tenure. In October 2017, Nayina was appointed to the supervisory board of Ghana National Gas Company Limited (GNGC).
