General election in Ghana 1996
The 1996 general election in Ghana was held on December 7th. The presidential elections were held at the same time. Parliamentary elections take place in Ghana every four years.

Because of irregularities in one constituency, by-elections were held in June 1997. The constituency that was initially open went to the New Patriotic Party in these by-elections .
Since the parliamentary seats in the 1996 elections were exclusively allocated by direct election, the percentages are only of limited informative value.
