Presidential elections in Ghana 1965
The presidential election in Ghana in 1965 took place after the National Assembly was dissolved on May 25, 1965 by President Kwame Nkrumah . The day after the general election on June 9th - it was a sham election in which the Convention People's Party was the only eligible party and won all 198 seats in the National Assembly - Nkrumah was re-elected as President by the National Assembly.

On February 24, 1966, by means of a military coup, the National Liberation Council overthrew the one-party Convention People's Party under President Nkrumah, which had been in power since the constitution-changing referendum on January 31, 1964 .
