Because there were irregularities in one constituency, by-elections were held on January 3, 2001. The constituency that was initially open went to the New Patriotic Party in these by-elections .
Since the parliamentary seats in the 2000 elections were only awarded by direct election, the percentage figures are only of limited informative value. For example, this can lead to a distribution of 2.25% of the votes without gaining a seat in parliament if no direct mandate has been won.
