The Brong-Ahafo region was a region of Ghana with the capital Sunyani . In 2016, 2.6 million people lived in the region in an area of ​​39,557 km². Its ISO-3166-2 code was GH-BA. When the Ahafo Region and the Bono East Region split off on February 13, 2019, it lost 71.92% of its area and 59.92% of its population. The rest of them renamed themselves the Bono Region .

The region was in the middle of the country and bordered in the north by the Northern Region , in the east by the Volta Region , in the southeast by the Eastern Region , in the south by the Ashanti Region , in the southwest by the Western Region and in the west by the Ivory Coast . In terms of area, it was the second largest region in Ghana and in terms of population it was in the mean of the regions of Ghana.
