The Techiman Municipal District (also: Tackyiman District) is a district in Ghana . It is located in the center of Ghana in the Bono East region . It borders on the districts of Kintampo and Nkoranza in the Bono East region, on Offinso in the Ashanti region and on Wenchi in the Bono region. Chief Executive of the 1,119 km² district with 173,742 inhabitants is Prince Yaw Donyina .

The district is the only urban district in the entire region. It was established during the administrative reform of 1978. Its capital, Techiman, is also the capital of the Bono East region.

population

The population is made up of up to 40 different ethnic groups. The population is mainly composed of the Akan (64.4 percent), Brong (75 percent of the Akan group), Gonja , Dagomba , Sissala and Mamprusi ethnic groups .

With 68.1 percent of the population, Christianity is the strongest religion in the district.

Constituencies

Two constituencies have been established in Techiman Municipal District. In the constituency of Techiman North, Alex Kyeremeh won the constituency for the National Democratic Party (NDC) in the parliamentary elections in 2004 and a seat in the Ghanaian parliament. In the constituency of Tchiman South, Simons Addai also won the seat in parliament from the NDC.
