Presidential elections in Ghana 2000
The presidential elections in Ghana 2000 were held in Ghana, West Africa, on December 7th at the same time as the parliamentary elections. There was a runoff election on December 28th . Seven candidates ran for election in the first round. As none of the candidates received the necessary minimum of 50% of all votes, three weeks later there was a runoff between the top two.
These elections were the first in Ghanaian history to result in a change of government through the ballot box.
