Stevie Johnson

Stevie Jerrell Johnson (born February 24, 1978 ) is a retired American basketball player . The 1.98-meter-tall winger played for Crailsheim in the basketball league .

career

Born in Beaumont, Mississippi, Johnson played basketball and football at Iowa State University. In his senior year 1999/2000 he was in the basketball team in 26 of 35 season games in the starting line-up and averaged 9.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per game.

Johnson spent his first three years as a professional basketball player in Iceland. In 2004 he moved to the Mallorcan club CB Inca. With the club he rose in 2005 from the third to the second Spanish division. From 2006 to 2011 he played for three Spanish third division teams (2006–2008: Caja Rioja, 2008/09: Alimentos de Palencia, 2009–2011: CB Penas Huesca). In the 2008/09 and 2009/10 rounds, Johnson was named "Player of the Year" in the third Spanish league by the internet service eurobasket.com . In 2009 he won the championship with Palencia.

In 2011/12 Johnson was under contract with the Argentine first division club Libertad Sunchales, in December 2012 he was brought in by the German second division club Crailsheim Merlins  and soon became a leading player there. “Such a player is great as a coach. He doesn't do anything that stays in your memory, but at the end of the game he got a lot of balls in. He has a very positive personality, which is why he also became captain, ”said Crailsheim's sports director Ingo Enskat in May 2013, when speaking to the Hohenloher Tagblatt . In 2014 Johnson rose with the club as runner-up in the 2nd Bundesliga ProA  in the basketball Bundesliga . He contributed to this success in 36 games this season averages of 12.9 points and 7.1 rebounds. In the top German division he played 17 games during the 2014/15 season and averaged 6.8 points and 3.8 rebounds per encounter. When Crailshei's head coach Willie Young was  fired in November 2014, Johnson took on duties as assistant coach.

After the end of the 2014/15 game year, Johnson resigned as a professional basketball player. He returned to the United States and worked in the insurance industry in the state of California .
