Enskat began his coaching career in 1988 in the youth department of the Bremen club TSV Lesum and looked after various teams there until 2003. From 1996 he was also youth coordinator of TSV Lesum and held this post until 2004. Other activities during this time included that of the selection trainer for the Bremen Basketball Association (1992 to 1994) and that of the lecturer with a focus on basketball in the sports department at the University of Bremen .

Between 2001 and 2003 Enskat worked as an assistant coach at the then second division Bremen Roosters , before he rose to head coach there and held this post for two years (2003-2005).

In 2005 he moved to TSV Crailsheim (at that time also 2. Bundesliga) and worked there as an assistant coach and youth coordinator until 2008, before taking over the post of head coach in 2008. In its first season as the main responsible person (2008/09) he led the club to the championship title in the 2nd Bundesliga Pro B and to promotion to the ProA . Enskat stayed in office until 2012 and then moved to the position of sporting director. In 2014 the Merlins entered the Bundesliga . In the first season in the top German division, the club separated from head coach Willie Young in November 2014, Enskat took over the post. The sporting league was not achieved under Enskat, but the Merlins were awarded the Bundesliga starting place vacant after the withdrawal of the Artland Dragons Quakenbrück for the following season 2015/16 . In March 2015, Enskat agreed with the club to continue the cooperation until 2017. On March 13, 2016, Enskat gave up the coaching position to the Finn Tuomas Iisalo and returned to the post of sporting director. At this point, the Merlins had lost nine of the last ten Bundesliga games and were on the penultimate place in the table. After relegation from the BBL in 2016, the Merlins returned in 2018 with Enskat as sports director and Iisalo as coach in Germany's top division. The runner-up also means the Crailsheim Merlins' second promotion to the basketball league.
