The Steyr 1200 ( 1200 a with all-wheel drive) tractor from the Steyr Plus series by Steyr Daimler Puch was built between 1972 and 1974.
In 1972 the existing Plus series was supplemented with the Steyr 1200 in the upper performance range; it was Steyr's most powerful tractor until 1974. The water-cooled turbo diesel engine of the type WD 610.43 with six cylinders and 5.975 l displacement had an output of around 85 kW (115 PS). The transmission from ZF Friedrichshafen had twelve forward gears and six reverse gears, but also 16 forward gears and eight reverse gears on request. The maximum speed was given as 25 km / h.
The 1200 was available with rear-wheel drive and optionally with all-wheel drive as the Steyr 1200 a. With an output of around 72 kW (98 hp), this tractor was available in similar dimensions as the Steyr 1100 .
For the first time in the Steyr 1400, the engine was equipped with a turbocharger.
The body was designed by the French industrial designer Louis Lucien Lepoix .
The 1200 a 113 pieces and the 1200 a 147 pieces. The 1400 a, produced from 1974 to 1976, was more successful and found 800 buyers.
