The Steyr breakthrough

The Steyr breakthrough is a narrow point in the middle reaches of the Steyr .

Emergence

The Ennstal glacier, which overflowed the Pyhrn Pass during the Ice Age , poured into the Steyrtal and Kremstal valleys and changed them by shaping them over a wide area. After the glacier retreated, the Steyr dug itself deep into the ground and created the Steyr breakthrough.

In the Steyr breakthrough there is the Steyr breakthrough power plant as well as a bridge over the Steyrtal Strasse and the Steyrtal cycle path leading over an abandoned bridge of the Steyr valley railway .
