Stifterl is a small wine bottle with a capacity of 0.375 liters in eastern Austria (also called “Stiftl” in dialect) .

The Stifterl got its name from the Chorherrnstift Klosterneuburg , which operates the largest and oldest winery in Austria and has been bottling quality wine in this bottle size since around 1950. At that time, the Austrian airline Austrian Airlines commissioned the pen to deliver red wine for First Class in small bottles.

In the meantime, the term “Stifterl” has also been used for simple wines for portion bottles with a content of 0.20 liters and 0.25 liters.
