The Education & Handicraft Foundation , based in Paderborn, is a non-profit foundation committed to promoting general and vocational education as well as international understanding and cooperation in education and employment. It was founded in 2001 by what is now the Paderborn-Lippe District Crafts Association - a trade association for regional crafts.

The Education & Handicraft Foundation acts as the umbrella organization of the SBH Group. Responsible for the strategic direction of the SBH Group is the four-person board of the Education & Craft Foundation, who act in joint responsibility. The board of trustees includes medium-sized entrepreneurs who monitor and review the activities of the Education & Crafts Foundation.

Since January 2015, the Education & Craft Foundation has been pursuing a uniform brand strategy for some of the companies belonging to it. SBH West GmbH, SBH Nord GmbH, SBH Südost GmbH and SBH Süd GmbH operate under the corporate brand SBH. The SBH Group is present at over 250 locations in Germany.
